Claudia Havranek Takes Position at British Antarctic Survey

Claudia Havranek (ELP 2014) | Biological Scientific Data Manager, British Antarctic Survey, United Kingdom

I have recently completed my PhD research in agriculture and conservation and concluded a four-year experience teaching statistics to biologists, at Magdalen College, University of Oxford. I have now taken up a position at British Antarctic Survey as a Biological Scientific Data Manager. In this role, I manage and analyze a large range of datasets, from penguin chronologies to microclimate data, to contribute towards conservation and understand the impacts of climate change in the polar regions.

I have also started to undertake data science consultancy projects for social good, pro bono, to provide advice and conduct analyses. Most recently, I have been advising doctors on statistical analyses for a COVID-19 clinical research paper. If you have any opportunities where I can volunteer to help with statistical analysis, data visualization and data management, to support projects for social good, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via email: claudia.havranek@gmail.com.
