I am an epidemiologist and biostatistician at UC Berkeley. I have worked for many years with colleagues at Berkeley and around the world to conduct observational cohort studies and randomized trials. Most studies have been designed to measure the effects of improvements in water, sanitation, handwashing, and nutrition on child diarrhea and growth in low-income countries. I have recently started to work more extensively with my colleagues at Berkeley to translate theoretical advances in machine learning and statistical estimation into new methods that measure infectious disease transmission through antibody response, with a particular focus on neglected tropical diseases and enteric pathogens.
