Jörg Hartung

Prof. Jörg Hartung is a professor for animal hygiene and animal protection and the former head of the Institute for Animal Hygiene, Animal Protection and Livestock Ethology at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. For more than 35 years, he has trained veterinarians and has been accompanying many of them for his doctorate. Its main fields of work are the influence of the environment on the health and well-being of farm animals and the negative environmental influences of animal production. Today, its internationally published research work contributes to the improvement of animal health and animal protection and bend diseases of animals. Prof. Hartung's research into microorganisms, dust and bioaerosols in the stable air also led to numerous improvements in the working conditions of employees of farms. Nine years he worked as an expert with the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority). He is Chairman of the Animal Protection Commission of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. He was recently elected Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of FOODSTUFFS.
