Shane Feirer

Shane Feirer has over 20 years of professional GIS and database experience. He is the lead GIS expert and supervisor at the Informatics and GIS (IGIS) Program at the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UCANR). In his position with IGIS, he designs and implements GIS systems that academics and staff can use in their research and outreach activities with the general public. Before working for UCANR, he received his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin–Steven Point and his M.S. from Oklahoma State University.

After his education, he worked for the Nature Conservancy in both Alaska and Oklahoma as the state GIS coordinator and Conservation Specialist, respectively. Through his career, he has developed expert knowledge in the use of the ESRI software suite including desktop and server applications, python and VBA programming, database application development, and the application of GIS to the field of Natural Resources and Ecology.
