The University of California, Berkeley was again rated the world's number one public and fourth-best overall university. The U.S. News & World Report published its Best Global Universities Rankings on Tuesday, October 24, which listed UC Berkeley fourth overall, behind only Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University. As a public university, UC Berkeley is first, with UCLA in 13th place overall and UCSF in 15th. By subject, UC Berkeley is ranked first globally for environment/ecology and chemistry, and fourth in plant and animal science, among other high subject ratings. The U.S. News & World Report uses 13 indicators to rank the top 1,250 universities from over 60 countries.
