Dr. Sarah Sawyer is the Assistant Regional Ecologist for the US Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region.  The Forest Service is a multi-use land management agency focused on ecological restoration and the sustainable use of natural resources, and Sarah’s geographic scope covers all 18 National Forests in California. Sarah’s current work focuses on wildlife conservation, wildland fire ecology and management, integrating climate change vulnerability and adaptation into land management planning, ecological monitoring, and international natural resource management.  Sarah received her PhD in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from UC Berkeley where she focused on wildlife ecology and landscape conservation in Equatorial Africa.  She has worked in the US, the Republic of Congo, Uganda, Cameroon, Guinea, and Haiti in wildlife conservation, forest management, and environmental monitoring.
